All I Ask Of You

Our art school, Master School Of Art had it's revue on the 28th and I was in drama this term. The scene I did was from The Phantom Of The Opera, Raoul and Christine's duet, All I Ask Of You. Daniel Steely played Raoul.

This was a difficult performance for me, because of my naturally loud and powerful voice. So I had to work hard to match Danny's volume.

Hopefully this video works...

Is it late already?
not again

My bright day is gone
and I'm left with the night

Then again maybe, it's not so bad
not like this

Stars and a moon
no, it's not so bad

I caught a firefly
and thought of you

A conversation with frogs
 Reminded me of you

What a bother this is
what a pity

To have beauty aplenty
but to have it alone

A Work In Progress

These are the lyrics for a song I've been working on. Whatcha think?

Is it over yet? That ache in your soul?
Have you broken those bonds? To that thing called loneliness.
The thing you can't quite escape, though you fight it like a wild cat,
Whispered promises of happiness, then stabbed you in the back

Break free! Oh, break free
From this thing called loneliness

Draws near again when you think you're free, can't find comfort in the friends you know
And where are they anyway, what of their promises made long ago?

Always glancing over your shoulder, to the left and to the right,
Always wary of it's vicious sting, always wary of it's bite

Break free! Oh, break free
From this thing called loneliness

Someone who's promises are worth everything has set you aside for greater deeds,
Just have faith, that's all it takes, because faith leads to other things

And lo, a lamp's been lit for you, it's just beyond that dismal shroud,
Have courage now, don't be afraid, stretch out your hand and take it out

But this thing called loneliness haunts you yet

Hold on, hold on, for now at least,
Wrestle with all that leaves you raw and sore,
Just be sure you win

And that thing called loneliness with haunt you never more.

Solitude, not just for hermits anymore.
A nice Pinterest picture.

Because I'm Batman.

The required owl.

Rules:

-You must make a post to show your award on your main blog.
-You must tag the person who nominated you in your post (also take the cute owl above you).
-You must nominate all of your best buddies, and those whom you want to become best buddies with, who, to your knowledge, have not been nominated for this award.
-You must ask your buddies at least 15 questions in your post.
-You must answer all of the questions your buddies ask you on your post.

I was nominated by Candence Declan for this Best Blogging Buddies Award thingy. Thanks Candence for the nomination, answering questions about yourself is always fun. XD Up there are the rule. ^

The questions from Cally:

1. Last dream you had?
Let me think.... Okay, pretty sure it went something like this: I was at this place where we sometimes go swing dancing, and Jess and Hannah Joy were there with the rest of their family, (that's not really the important part, but I thought I'd mention it anyway) and I was dancing with a guy from art school and then Cori walks up and says, "My turn!" and starts dancing with me instead. And the guy from art school looks slightly annoyed and goes and dances with Hannah. And Hannah just smiled sheepishly the rest of the dream.

2. What do you normally eat for breakfast?
Nothing. Don't like eating breakfast.
3. Any songs that you just absolutely love?
The Arrow by Josh Garrels. I heard it in concert and just about died. Also, Geronimo by Sheppard right now.
4. Current favorite post?
Hum hum..... This one. Because it's a story and I am HOOKED.

5. Thought of the day?
Wouldn't it be nice to have help with everything?? Like, what if when you sat with that sick calf or went to go feed, someone you enjoyed was just there. Sitting. Keeping you company. And you weren't alone.
6. Are you ready for summer?
Very. I like the rain, but now I am ready for the sun to come back.
7. Something I may not know about you?
I can whistle. *waggles eyebrows*
8. When you hear the word Run, what do you think (of)?
Running. Duh. XD
Or this.

OR the Cow SRTM because EVERYONE is ALWAYS  running in that. (if you want to know what that is, pester Jess or Hannah. It was their fault.)
9. What is the weather like right now?
Rainy and cloudy. And a bit sunny.
10. What makes you smile?
Most things. But specifically funny things.
11. If you had the chance to travel through space, for any amount of time, would you?
Yep. But preferably for not TOO long. I like it here.

12. Describe how you feel right now in one word.
Hummmmmmm
13. Do you have any favorite posts posted this week (by you or by others)?
Didn't you already ask that??
Still this.
14. Smell of rain or feel of sunlight?
Both. At once. Because this is Oregon.
15. Can you?
Most definitely.
Now the part where I try to come up with some nominees.... Unfortunately, just about everyone else I know with a blog is already doing it. So these are the people I pick:

                 Arthur (Sorry. XD)
Cameron (You can put your answers in the comments I guess)
Cassie
And you, Cori. Put your answers in the comment section too.
And whoever else is reading this, you put your answers in the comment box as well. Unless you have a blog and then say I nominated you.
My Questions For You:
1. Something you feel strongly about?
2. A place you would like to visit someday?
3. Cool, obscure skill or talent you have?
4.Something I most likely don't know about you?
5. Favorite genre of music?
6. What are you going to do with your life?
7. How do you react in stressful/frightening situations?
8. Is being right/correct important?
9. What is the last word you spoke aloud?
10. If you could change anything about your physical appearance, would you? If so, what?
11. Do you lean more towards introvert or extrovert?
12. Slugs or snails? (Important question, that.)
13. If you were travel back in time to any time period, where would you go? And this is not an optional trip. You're lucky you get to chose the time.
14. Did anything terrible happen to you in your childhood?
15. How fast can you run?

Batman out.

Aren't brains funny things?

I was talking with my siblings the other day about how their different brains look on the inside. This isn't an uncommon conversation here, but this time all five of us were involved.

And we all have radically different kinds of heads.

For example, my oldest sister Cassie and my brother Zack apparently have 3D brains. With gears and wires and blueprints floating around. Cassie says that it would be easiest to explain if she had a projector to show me with.

 Cassie

Zack would like this.

Sister Cori just has this big swirling mass of colors and impressions, with no words at all. You know that yellow/pink and black cloud thing you see when you close your eyes? I imagine it a lot like that and she says that's pretty accurate.

Cori

Mine is words and conversations, with the occasional picture from a memory. And completely linear. I could articulate everything in my head in a steady stream of nonsense. I have about three voices, one is my regular voice and the other two are just made up.
This is the best I could find for me, mostly because I haven't been able to sleep much lately because of  thinking too much.

Youngest sister Autumn says her brain looks like a heart. Which isn't at all surprising with her emotional orientation. Everything has emotional implication for her.

Autumn agrees, I'm sure.

SOOOO this post did originally have a point but I got lost finding nice Pinterest quotes. XD

What does your mind look like? I'm sure there are more than four or five different sorts of  minds out there.

What what

So my mom wrote me a poem. I didn't even know she could do that.

A poem for Becca:
The Hen

Under my feathers
I hid an egg

Lovely creamy secret
Warm with the becoming
So satisfying and mine
but Oh!
It changed--
I fluffed
and kept it hid
There.
Oh! While I was dozing
Something Bright
Grew
And pecked
And there it is
With shining eyes
And impertinent beak

Here's a random, blurry picture of me and a chicken.

Something Beautiful

So my friend Cameron and I wrote a poem. It stemmed from a conversation about visiting Ireland and kidnapping the queen and.... Well, here. XD

Me:

A trip to Ireland? That sounds like fun!

First there and if we're not caught,
we'll run off to England to find Hiddleston!

Cameron:

What’s this we’re doing, you ask in horror

“Nothing much”, I say with a sneer.
“I’m just kidnapping the Queen here, my dear.”
“We’ll get all her money, since she won’t want to die.”
“Then run away to Ireland, to Ireland we fly!”
Why so cruel?! Why this evil deed?!
“To get Hiddleston
Who’s as handsome as you could plead.

Me:

This evil deed will be no difficulty,
Not with the consulting criminal
James Moriarty!

Although it's true, they thought he was dead,
Do you really think someone could be killed,
With that kind of a head?

Cameron:

Sherlock is worried.

What’s this he hears?
“Moriarty is alive?!”
“I think that I’ve had too many beers.”
But wait, there’s more?!
More news comes to shore!
Two girls, (from the U.S, no doubt)
Have taken the Queen and spun her about!
Her dress is in tatters
Her crown is gone
“I’ve been out of town too long!”
“Where are they now?”
Footsteps come ‘round…
“Miss me darling? I’ve been out of town…..”

Me:

"Come now John, the game is on!"
His friend rolls his eyes
"Oh Moriarty, you great moron."

And meanwhile, back on the farm
Two American girls are holding the queen
Laughing their heads off, in an old barn.

Cameron:

Back on the farm, In an old barn

We shook our heads and laughed
But suddenly, right outside
Who should appear?
Sherlock and Co. coming
To get her Majesty
“Surrender or die!”

Yells He with glee
“NEVAH OH EVER”
Yells we with ….fear
When suddenly (yes, suddenly again)
A HIDDLESTON APPEARS
Manly and tall
With daggers and all.

“Let the girls go!
Your fight is with me!”
So we escaped
And ran into the night
While the sound
Of daggers and gunshots
Blurred our sight.
But then, out of nowhere
Comes Tom with the Queen.
“You saved us!”
We scream
“What’s my name, darling?
He says with a smirk
I almost faint
You just gagged
And said with a sneer
“Our lifesaver. Now get out of here”
“No!” I yell
And run to his side
You laugh
And rule the world with us.

Me:

The Queen returned home, Jim behind bars
A unexpected rescue, a fight in the dark
Leaves Sherlock at home, shooting holes in the walls

Now to my friend, everyone bows
As Cam is queen of Jotunheim,
I can return to my cows.

Look at these pictures and then go outside and do something. Anything really.

Photo:Pinterest

It's well after midnight, and I'm not asleep,
Outside my window the stars twinkle and wink

Lifting my head, I speak into the night,
But my sister's asleep, her eyes closed tight

So I climb from my bed and trip on the mess on the floor,
Dash the rest of the way and slip out the door

Once in the barnyard, I glance up at the moon,
Hanging low, illuminating the gloom

Smiling now, I increase my speed,
Enjoying my secret, be it a common enough deed

Now through the barn, now through the field,
and up on the hill, a concrete water tower is revealed

The view from up there is the best one around,
The white mountain, the valley; in the distance, a town

Settling down, I gaze up at the sky,
Wondering whether to laugh or to cry

Instead, I pray to the God who is the giver of all good things,
Of deep roots and butterfly wings

So many people need a church to feel close,
They need the words and the songs to keep them afloat

Or someone to tell them, "You're doing it right!"
To hold their hand when bright days turn to night

But I have been given a different way,
I see his love in creation every day

The creatures of dirt, and the ones of sky,
These are the things he shows his love by

I won't forget and neither should you
If you just look at a tree or the sky oh-so blue.

In the meantime, it's well after midnight and I'm still not asleep.

Playing Dress-up

This isn't the sort of thing I'm going to be blogging about on a regular basis, but I think this event was unusual enough to justify it. If you don't think so, then ignore this post. XD

So, we attended a Disney themed homeschooler prom held by a family from art school (MSOA), held at what was essentially a mansion/castle.

Here.

I really wasn't sure I wanted to go when we first heard about it. Actually, I was quite sure I DIDN'T want to go. Because what good, self respecting homeschooler wants to have to admit to having gone to prom?? However, Mom bought a ticket for me anyway, and she and my sisters convinced me to go. Besides, my two friends were going to be there. So I agreed. Even wore a pink dress.

My cousin/friend Brenna. Putting a scarf over my face.

I am so very proud of my face in this picture.
That extra girl is April, she rode with us.
Though Cori's is pretty good in this one.

My lovely Cameron. She's one of my favorites.

Me and two of my sisters.
Apparently, proms are mostly about dressing up and taking pictures. Not sure why. *shrug*

Sister Cori. Blacksmith extraordinaire.
Sister Cassie. Seamstress extraordinaire.

Mom made me wash. My. Feet. AND paint my toenails. AND wear heels, ghastly things.

And in the end, I'm actually glad I went.  It was something worth doing once in your life.

A Bright Patch of Shadow

A poem I wrote about my friend Cameron.

She’s both something new and something of old,
Ancient and young, quiet and bold,

She’s just something else and yet something familiar,
A bright patch of shadow, the line of a song,
ringing through the ages, pure, lovely and strong.

Starlight and fire are entwined in a haze,
And you can’t tell them apart when you’re caught in her gaze.

Did you see her there, dancing alone in the night?
Was she really there, or was it a trick of the light?

A moment here, an instant present,
But that’s what she is, don’t try to fight it.

A bright patch of shadow, singing a song in the quiet.

Hay-o!

Bonjour.

This isn't my only blog, but my other one is WordPress and I didn't like it for trying to write. So here I am, making one on Blogspot. But I'm cheating and using the same blog name as my other one, because I like it.

I'm not a proper writer, but I do occasionally write some stuff and I recently put one of Candence Declan's poems to music. It will be things like those that I post here.

I will still post pictures on the WordPress one here

So do stop by again. *waves*
